Joanna's Teaching Philosophy
I believe an appreciation of and exposure to the inclusive language of music is necessary for the well-rounded child because it cultivates cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development. For children and adults, music also provides and fosters an outlet for creative expression. Through my teaching of private music lessons and group music classes, I hope to instill in beginner and intermediate students of all ages a lifelong love for music and learning, and a passion for playing the piano or singing.
I will also help my students develop knowledge of music theory and artistry, and by providing this solid foundation I intend for my students to be well-prepared for further advancement in the study of music. I will promote these goals by using research-based approaches, reputable methods/curriculum, activities, and literature/repertoire which support the understanding of music as well as the personality and educational needs of the student.
I aim to create an enjoyable and fun environment in lessons and classes by showing my own enthusiasm for music and my excitement for the student to experience the valuable education of music.
